Bratislava welcomes its first Scandinavian press trip, backed by Slovakia Travel, Norwegian Airlines, and the Historic Hotels of Slovakia

Bratislava, July 22, 2025 – From July 1 to 5, 2025, the very first press trip for journalists from Scandinavian countries took place, with the aim of showcasing the beauty of Bratislava and the Little Carpathians region in the unique context of historic hotels and wine culture. The event was held to mark the launch of a new direct flight connection between Copenhagen and Bratislava operated by Norwegian Airlines, and was the result of cooperation between Slovakia Travel, the Historic Hotels of Slovakia Association (HHS), and other partners.

Respected journalists and bloggers from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway accepted the invitation, including representatives of prestigious media such as Politiken, ELLE, Travel News Media, RESENÄREN, Freedom Travel, Mat och Resebloggen, and RejsRejsRejs. Throughout their stay, they were accommodated in a member hotel of the association – Arcadia Boutique Hotel Bratislava, which offers an unforgettable atmosphere in the historical heart of the capital.

The program was rich in experiences and balanced between history, gastronomy, culture, and relaxation. The journalists visited several iconic sites in Bratislava, such as Michael’s Gate, the UFO Tower, the Danubiana Museum, and the Chatam Sofer Memorial. An important part of the program was also the presentation of HHS member hotels.

A special highlight was the visit to Šimák Castle in Pezinok, where guests took a tour of the castle premises combined with wine tasting and an introduction to the HHS philosophy. The final tasting lunch took place at another member establishment – the Renaissance Pension Krone in Svätý Jur, which enchanted guests not only with its food, but also with the wine-making atmosphere of the Little Carpathians.

“It is a great honor for our association to have co-organized the first press trip for Scandinavian journalists, and especially at a time when Slovakia is gaining a direct air connection with Copenhagen. We believe that a personal experience with the services of our hotels and the rich cultural and gastronomic heritage will help increase interest in our destination,” said Michal Čuridlo, Secretary General of the Historic Hotels of Slovakia Association.

The press trip was organized to support inbound tourism and strengthen Slovakia’s image as an attractive, safe, and high-quality destination with an emphasis on authenticity and history. The first reports from the trip are expected in the coming weeks in both online and print media in all three countries.
