Architecture of burgher houses in the square gradually passed from Gothic to Renaissance form, which we know nowadays. Fires caused, that from the Gothic houses retained only the residues which appear in the reconstruction work. The history of burgher house Hotel U Leva reach up until the 14th century where the generations of artisans, merchants and patricians worked here and enjoyed their everyday life. In the 16th - 17th centuries, when the elegant Renaissance vaults were raised, lived here the draper Simon, the tanner Hieronym and Polish aristocrats Ludwik and Tobias Sontag, who were in the 17th century owners of most of the burgher houses in Levoča.
