The hotel is exceptionally well situated. It is located in the quiet and picturesque Žitný ostrov island not far from Bratislava City – the capital of Slovakia. The Žitný ostrov island represents the largest onshore island in Europe, a protected water area of the Central European significance with numerous thermal springs and it is one of the most fertile regions of Slovakia.
The Amade Château hotel disposes of 29 luxurious rooms, 10 of which are individual suites. Every room is designed in an original manner. The rooms are decorated with hand-painted wallpapers, hand-woven blankets for beds and with various artistic forged accessories. All used materials are characterized by excellent quality, good taste and they are mutually complementary in order to create harmonious and cosy environment. The hotel can offer also a barrier-free double room.

Story

The Amade Château Hotel is an island of peace and comfort in the middle of the Žitný ostrov island. Internal layout of our spa intended to attract the attention of our kind visitors to the fact that they are in the biggest and the most marvellous overland island called the Golden Garden by our ancestors.
It is not a coincident that the pool ceiling is painted with gold colour gilding also the walls from sand by its reflexes – several decades ago local people were washing gold out from the Danube sediments. Photographs from the 60’s of the past century are documenting right this craft.
The entrance hall was decorated with the pattern from the folk embroidery with applied gold varnish mixed with sand. I do believe it will resist to the ravages of time since it is not only lovely but also modern and it perfectly illustrates creative power of the local folks.
Opposite the entrance there is a family motto of the Amade family– Amore et Candore, i.e. with love and honour. The Amade family was a strong family, a bearer of many significant deeds with their family nest in the form of a fortified small castle in Vrakúň. Its atmosphere is reminded by the upholstered chairs in the entrance hall.
The glassy filling of the door was humanized by verses of the baron László Amade from Vrakúň who as we remember from the school was the first real author of songs. His song “Jagaví vojaci” (Shimmering Soldiers) has been sung up to the present day. He easily rhymed also in Latin and in German and he composed also the Slovak verses as documented by the door panel leading to a dressing room.
The goldish wallpaper of the reception hall is of the “commemorative” character – it evokes a mansion park with a fountain, the equipment of the dressing room reminds of rich water life of the Žitný ostrov island. The equipment is a celebration of skilful local joiners who made benches and tables from the original mansion roof beams.
A swarm of shouting frogs on the storey is not just a purposeless decoration. They were transformed here from the coat-of-arms of the municipality of Vrakúň and the local ceramist who is the author of all remaining majolica objects in the hotel externalized them artistically.
The dragonfly is the motive of the same importance while its swarms are settled not only on walls and marble floorings of the mansion but also in the park.  
Human eye is pleased by natural shapes such as a ball, i.e. an archaic symbol of the sun or waves representing water. Thus these shapes and forms are repeated on the ceilings and walls of the spa as well as in external and internal premises of the mansion.

History

The Vrakúnsky kaštieľ manor house was built in the Louis-Seize Romantic style, i.e. it is a memory of the French Louis romanticism, of the world of Rococo when everything was exaggerated and over-decorated, when even bushes in the park had to grow differently than naturally. Aristocratic circles in whole Europe were imitating the French kingdom and the same was occurring on the Žitný ostrov island with a certain phase shift. Manor houses were built according to the Château de Versailles style including lots of silk and damask fabric with perfectly measured and cut lawns and paths filled with fine gravel that served for strolls of ladies and gentlemen in powdered wigs.  In the similar way as they do on the sofa in our receiving hall. As the very Rococo style, also the life in this period was preened and especially colourful, colourful, colourful...  As if all was coated with a pinkish sugar icing. This infinitely lighten and a bit frivolous world is returning to us in furnishing of our halls and rooms, this mood emanates from motives in the form of Bourbon lilies on the hall walls (which were incidentally stamped with a simple wooden form) or in the form of rosaries and rings in the receiving halls so popular in the Classicism. Why has our hotel been denominated as Amade? In the sleepy period characterized by the candy colours a dreamy poet, baron László Amade, lived... An age-old nest of his family was Vrakúň, right the places on which the area of our hotel is situated thus it was named Amade. László Amade was a real globetrotter, a great woman seducer who enjoyed pleasures of life. (He wrote one long poem mentioning the names of the particular seduced beauties – the work ranks among the milestones of artistic indiscretion). In 18th century he was one of the most European Hungarian poets as well as a favourite character of aristocratic saloons on the Žitný ostrov island. Therefore one wing in the manor house was named after him - ”Le Baron”.
Also in the restaurant, I was striving for creating the romantic atmosphere in which the manor house was built. The design of wooden lining of walls was stemming from the French contemporary patterns. There are small flowers found on meadows of the Žitný ostrov island on the curtains and on the contrary the Chinese room can take us to the remote exotic world. Chinese vases in niches are the work of the local ceramist with a frog from the coat-of-arms of Vrakúň on their lids. (When furnishing I was trying to cooperate with local masters as much as possible and it was only due to their merits that such beauty currently named the Amade Château Hotel could be born.
